SSE has welcomed the UK Government’s newly published Infrastructure Strategy, describing it as a “timely and ambitious blueprint for building essential new infrastructure”.
The strategy, which sets out a 10-year vision for delivering critical infrastructure across the UK, places strong emphasis on clean energy, resilience and regional growth - key priorities that align closely with SSE’s own investment plans.
SSE is currently delivering its £17.5bn Net Zero Acceleration Programme, one of the largest clean energy investment programmes in the UK and Ireland, focused on expanding renewable generation, upgrading electricity networks and supporting the transition to a net zero economy.
The strategy also highlights the importance of long-term planning, regulatory clarity and regional delivery - areas where SSE continues to engage with government and industry partners to help unlock investment and accelerate progress toward net zero.
SSE's Chief Executive, Alistair Phillips-Davies, said:
“SSE welcomes the UK government’s 10-Year Infrastructure Strategy as a timely and ambitious blueprint for building essential new infrastructure. Its long-term focus on clean energy, resilience and regional growth aligns strongly with our £17.5bn Net Zero Acceleration Plan, which is already underway.
“We’re particularly encouraged by the continued emphasis on enabling investment in clean power and supporting economic development. As the UK’s clean energy champion, SSE is delivering the infrastructure that powers communities, drives growth and accelerates the transition to a more secure energy system."
